The John Muir Weight Loss Surgery Center at John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus is designed to help severely overweight individuals lose weight. Weight-loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is considered a treatment of last resort for people who are more than 70 pounds overweight, and who have tried a variety of weight-loss methods without lasting success.
The John Muir Weight Loss Surgery Center is located within John Muir Medical Center, Concord Campus, one of the region's premier healthcare providers. The program is managed by an experienced bariatric nurse specialist who coordinates a team of professionals focused on helping you to achieve optimal success.
The following services are provided for qualified patients:
Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Adjustable Lap-Band, and Duodenal Switch: these surgeries can usually be performed laparoscopically depending on patient history and condition.
A team of surgeons with advanced laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgical skills who have a special interest in the field of bariatrics (weight management). The surgeons are members of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
Comprehensive care coordination by a bariatric nurse specialist who meets with you and your family prior to surgery and provides support and follow-up
